Travel Health FAQs

  • All our patients have a detailed consultation based on their healthcare risks while travelling. This can cover food and water risks, mosquito avoidance, malaria and thrombosis, as well as risks associated with altitude exposure, and also Zika and COVID-19. Following a review of your travel plans and risk of disease exposure, we then decide on which travel vaccines and malaria tablets are appropriate based on your destination and medical history. Our specialised travel medicine software is constantly being updated with medical travel advice, so if anything is happening in your destination that you need to be aware of, we’ll make sure you are.

  • The TMB offer guidance on which vaccine you should receive for your trip. If your destination is not listed, we will provide detailed vaccination advice based on our travel health software during your consult, which identifies disease risk levels and vaccination recommendations worldwide.

  • First, book your Travel Health Doctor Phone Consult. Then the doctor will phone you at your selected time and answer any questions you may have, and prescribe the necessary vaccines and prescriptions. This call typically takes 15 minutes. Directly after your consult, you will receive a link by email to book your nurse appointment. At your nurse appointment, the nurse will confirm the vaccines with you and administer them. We administer vaccinations Monday to Friday by appointment only.

  • If it is a joint consultation (30 minutes) or a larger group consultation, each person needs to be available at the time booked, and on the phone number provided during your booking. Each person’s individual risk and medical needs will need to be assessed before receiving medical recommendations and vaccine advice.

  • Vaccine prices vary and are individually charged based on the TMB rate. Note: Vaccine prices are in addition to the initial Travel Health Doctor Phone Consult

  • Travel Vaccines in Ireland are prescription only. This means our travel health doctor must always discuss your travel details and your medical and vaccination history first before you receive your vaccines. This is the best way to ensure you are taking the latest recommended vaccines for you and your trip.

  • You can call the clinic during office hours. If the clinic is closed, the TMB offer an out-of-hours service for URGENT Travel Medicine advice. You can phone (01) 271 5200 for assistance. If you are in an emergency situation in a foreign location, please seek medical attention.
